Maharashtrian Tadka Rice
Ingredients
500 gms cooked basmati rice
1 onion finely chopped
1 tbs. oil
1 tbs. cumin seeds
1 tbs. mustard seeds
1 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. chilli powder
1 green chilli (whole)
Coriander to garnish
Salt to taste
Method
- Heat up the oil in a small frying pan.
- When it is hot, add in the cumin and mustard seeds.
- When the cumin seeds start to sizzle and the mustard seeds start to pop, add in the onions and the green chilli.
- When the onions are soft put in the rice, turmeric, red chilli powder and salt. Mix thoroughly - you might need to sprinkle a little water so that the turmeric blends in.
- Garnish with coriander and serve hot with yoghurt or dal.
